I'm Ruthie, the chicken farmer! This is my first year of raising chickens by myself, and I'd love to tell you all about them!
Did you know chickens and ducks don't start laying eggs until they are about 20 weeks old? If you get them from me you don't have to wait for a very long time for them to lay eggs and deal with any chicks dying (it's a problem and annoying) because mine will be laying already!! You also don't have to have a smelly room and change their messy bedding--I already did that for you!
If you buy the chicks soon you'll get their first eggs!! First eggs are really special because they are so small and cute, and they might not even have yolks! The ducks have been laying for a little while.

Why did you decide to raise laying hens and ducks?
At first I wanted to make money but now I want to do it for a fundraiser for Ukraine, for the TOUCH project
What does daily care look like?
You have to refill the water cuz the ducks and older chickens make it disgusting, so you have to make sure they always have clean (and unfrozen) water. You have to make sure they have food so they don't peck each other. You have to make sure none of them are dead--you have to count them every night (cuz all of them are roosting and asleep, or you can count them by color).
If they are hurt you have to take care of that--sometimes you need to separate them or put Vetricin or ointment on them before they get better. Chickens are very interested and will peck the hurt spot on the injured bird.
Taking care of them gets very frustrating sometimes, but you just have to do it, but sometimes it's really nice and you like to do it.
What's your favorite part about raising chickens and ducks?
I really like seeing how weird they can be--they are really funny sometimes!
Why should you buy my chicks?
They are already laying and you don't have to wait and wait and wait for eggs!
Also, you can support a young agricultural entrepreneur, helping the community to become more self sufficient by producing food locally.
